Tasveer Film Festival 2025

The acclaimed short film Two Sinners is set to make its much-anticipated premiere on October 11, 2025, at the prestigious Tasveer Film Festival & Market, held from October 8–12. Recognized as the only Oscar-qualifying South Asian film festival in the world, Tasveer provides a powerful platform for emerging voices and socially relevant stories, making this screening a landmark moment for the filmmakers.

Written and directed by debut filmmaker Samir Zaidi, Two Sinners is produced by renowned casting director and producer Shivam Gupta, with acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj lending his support as Executive Producer. The film also lists Vipin Sharma as Co-Producer, alongside Probir Umesh Sabnis and Sohail Anjum as Executive Producers.

Set against the haunting backdrop of an Indian forest, Two Sinners follows Azhar, portrayed by BAFTA Breakthrough talent Shardul Bhardwaj, who is forced by his elder brother to confront the man responsible for their sister’s assault. The film navigates intense emotional terrain, exploring cycles of violence, moral ambiguities, and the delicate balance between justice and forgiveness.

The ensemble cast, including Deipak Sampat, Baharul Islam, and Aditi Sivaraman, delivers gripping performances that challenge viewers to consider the blurred lines between right and wrong, victim and perpetrator. The film’s bold storytelling and nuanced acting make it a standout entry in contemporary South Asian cinema.

Director Samir Zaidi describes Two Sinners as a story about “the weight of our choices,” emphasizing that life often exists in the grey area between right and wrong. Producer Shivam Gupta adds that the film’s honesty, both in performances and craft, reflects a courageous confrontation of difficult questions without taking sides, creating a story that resonates universally.

Two Sinners has already garnered international attention, having premiered earlier this year at major film festivals, and now, with its Tasveer debut, it is poised to reach new audiences. The festival screening not only showcases the creative vision of the filmmakers but also highlights Indian short films on a global platform.

The film’s premiere at an Oscar-qualifying festival represents a rare opportunity for South Asian cinema to be recognized at the highest level. Audiences attending the festival can expect a thought-provoking, emotionally charged cinematic experience that challenges perceptions of morality, justice, and forgiveness.

With a compelling narrative, powerful performances, and a socially conscious theme, Two Sinners continues to push boundaries in short filmmaking. Its Tasveer premiere is set to be a significant step in the film’s journey, offering a platform to engage with global viewers and spark meaningful conversations about human choices and ethical dilemmas.

Two Sinners is more than a short film; it is a courageous exploration of the complexities of human behavior, making it one of the most anticipated films of 2025.
